LABOUR PARTY NATIONAL CARETAKER CHAIRPERSON, SEN. ESTHER NENADI USMAN INAUGURATES COMMITTEE MEMBERS, CALLS FOR UNITY AND COMMITMENT TO REBUILD THE PARTY

The newly inaugurated National Chairman of the Labour Party Caretaker Committee, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, has urged committee members to embrace unity, self-sacrifice, and a shared vision to steer the party towards a brighter future.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, Senator Usman emphasized the importance of cooperation and determination in overcoming the challenges ahead.

She described the committee's role as crucial to laying the foundation for a party that can bring real change to Nigerians, particularly in addressing the country's economic and social struggles.

“As members of the Caretaker Committee, our mission is clear. We are here to lay the groundwork for a party that can bring real change and relief to the suffering masses. Our task is temporary, but it is demanding,” she stated.

Senator Usman acknowledged that rebuilding the party would be more challenging than starting from scratch, urging committee members to be prepared for the hard work ahead. She also appealed for patience and understanding, especially as meetings may be called on short notice.

“For those of us with the means, this is the time to step up and help. This is self-sacrifice, and I know many of you are committed to this cause,” she remarked, highlighting the need for personal investment in the party's rejuvenation.

She also called for immediate reconciliation within the party, encouraging the committee to reach out to aggrieved members and bring them back into the fold.

“One of our first tasks must be reconciliation. We need to unite the party and ensure everyone is on board for the journey ahead.”

Senator Usman outlined the committee's broader vision for repositioning the Labour Party as a strong opposition force, ensuring the government remains accountable to its promises.

“Our goal is not to stir trouble but to ensure that the government delivers on its promises to the Nigerian people. Through constructive criticism, we can help ensure that Nigerians get a better deal.”

She passionately expressed her vision for a united and peaceful Nigeria, where security and economic prosperity are prioritized.

“We dream of a Nigeria where people can travel without fear, where bandits no longer threaten their safety, and where the economy is strong enough for every Nigerian to live with dignity,” she said.

Usman also stressed the importance of youth employment and education, stating that under Labour Party leadership, these goals could be achieved in the near future.

“We envision a country where the youth are employed and where no child is left out of school. I believe that with Labour Party leadership, these goals are within reach, not in the distant future, but in our time.”

Recognizing the significance of their role, Usman described the committee's mission as one that goes beyond the Labour Party, seeing it as a rescue mission for Nigeria’s democracy.

“The attention and interest this committee has generated extend beyond party lines. If we do our work right, the Labour Party can offer hope to all dissatisfied, disenfranchised, and unhappy Nigerians,” she said.

In closing, Usman reminded the committee that they are on a mission to serve the country and its people, emphasizing the need for integrity and transparency.

“We are here to serve, and we must practice what we preach. Each member must carry themselves with integrity as we rebrand the party,” she urged.

Appealing for realistic expectations, she reminded members that their mandate is temporary but vital.

“This is pure sacrifice. We are setting aside everything to rebuild this party, and we are open to ideas from all corners.

“The new generation of 'Obidients' is watching us closely, and our commitment must be absolute.”

The message from the new Labour Party leadership is clear: unity, dedication, and a relentless focus on rebuilding the party will be key to its success in the coming months.
