The recent political developments in Nigeria, the Underdevelopment of Nigeria and terrible consequences on Nigerians can only be traced to the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of the legislative arm of government.
When the legislature whose responsibility lies on checks and balances are pandering to the whims and caprices of the executive arm, the masses bears the brunt of executive rascality.
If it were in saner climes, Buhari alongside other governors would have either resigned or impeached with the majority votes of lawmakers from various legislative houses. In Nigeria, any move by the opposition lawmakers aimed at checking the excesses of the executive arm suffers legislative filibuster. They're not doing it because they're quite insensitive to the plight of the common man, they are doing it because they are products of the system.
A Government that cannot guarantee the safety of lives and properties of her citizens should have been led off by the legislature.
A government that has borrowed more to service debts instead of creating sustainable wealth for her citizens by providing critical infrastructure is quite inept and deserves to go.
A government that has failed to prioritize education doesn't mean well for her citizenry.
This is however, a clarion call on Nigerians to be extremely careful with the quality of humans they elect to represent them in various legislative houses. Whatever decision he/she makes there has a direct positive or negative bearing on you.
Politicians are at it again. They've come with their usual rhetorics. Check their histories and antecedents before pitching your tenth. Don't be deceived by their pretentious outlooks.
