Onitsha Social Media Connect creates history, doles out scholarships to indigent children in the community.
History was made yesterday 8th of September when the @onitshasocialmediaconnect team sent a hundred indigent students in Basic Education back to school with gifts items as part of their monthly contribution to the development of @onitsha_city.
The group organised a Spelling Bee and Current Affairs Competition which ended with giving six indigent students a renewable scholarship for the next academic session.
Speaking during the event, the founder of the team, Divine Ifeonyemetalu and the secretary of OMPAN Anambra State chapter said it was a thought out event to alleviate the sufferings of parents especially in this hard times schools are resuming.
She said apart from the scholarship back to school items like school bags , note books, mathsets and many more were given free of charge.
Meanwhile, the judges team had a representative of the Commissioner for Youths and Creative Economy , an S.A to the Governor on Youth mobilization, Mr Chidi Frank who chaired the team, the founder of Behind bars initiative, Mr Harrison Emefiele and founder of Ndi Igbo and friends, Ada Kamuche among others.
The team, Onitsha Social Media Connect has been waxing strong to change the negative face of their host city.
